And I am not at any point where I can do a tutorial, I am still trying to figure out how to do things myself!!
But I did want to mention it because I am Sew Grateful for the online crafting community that I have just discovered this year. It has been a huge help to me and not only to my crafting skills (though it has helped a lot there too!!), but it has helped me feel like there are people out there who have similar interests as me and that I get along with.
Though it is pretty sad that I have referred to a blogger that has no clue I exist as my friend when explaining something they said to someone. Is there a good word for someone who's blog you read? Because I bring up bloggers in everyday conversation quite frequently and it gets annoying saying "a lady whose blog I read" and unless the person I am talking to is my husband I can't refer to the blogger my their name/alas because they will ask who is that and I will have to say it anyway (my hubby however is pretty familiar with a bunch of you :)
Anyway, I really wanted to say thank you. Your blogs mean a lot to me. I have started following many more blogs than the ones listed on my site, I will eventually get to adding you all to my page.
Thanks Again and head over to My Happy Sewing Place for a list of tons of giveaways!
Hi Brandy
ReplyDeleteThank you for entering my give away! We all started somewhere and my blog is still a baby really. Just enjoy the writing and community, the rest will come. And it's not sad to refer to a blogger as a friend - I'm pretty sure most of us feel like that about those we haven't met! I know I do!

Yes, I refer to other bloggers as my blog friends - most people in my life pretty much get the concept by now. I can even refer to some of them on a first name basis and my hubby and mom both know exactly who I am talking about :) The on-line sewing community is delightfully supportive - and I am so glad you are a part of it.
ReplyDeleteah thanks. I am glad that I am not the only one who refers to you guys as friends :)
DeleteBrandy, I totally relate to your post! I really admire so many other bloggers and at times refer to them as if I know them (not creepily!), while struggling with the clunky, "this girl whose blog I read said..." intro, which makes my real-life friends'& boyfriend's eyes glaze over.
ReplyDeleteMy baby blog has even fewer followers than this cute little handmade-ryan-gosling-appreciating gem of yours, so don't feel bad. I just told myself I'll get to do a giveaway for next year's sew grateful week... :)
I often refer to other bloggers as my sewing friends because I do find that people glaze over a bit when I say blogging! lol. You should definitely participate in next year's Sew Grateful Week! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Debi, I will definately participate next year (even if I still have only 12 followers) :)
DeleteThat is so funny because I think of many sewing bloggers as friends and they have never heard of me or my blog. But I feel like I know them really well and I get worried when they don't post, seem sad or express frustration! Then I see a beautiful garment and think, "Oh my gosh, Blogger X would totally LOVE that," and I realize that maybe I read too many blogs. ;)
ReplyDeleteI read someone's blog that talked about how someone met her out and it was creepy that she read her blog and knew so much about her. She figured they stalked her and met her there because she posted on fb she would be there.
ReplyDeleteIt made me self concious because I know quite a bit about my blog friends and I follow several on fb, twitter and Pinterest too. I've never met one, but I figure I'd try if I got to go to viva or some other event.
Oh, I'm so glad someone else has the same thoughts I do! I totally refer to other sewing bloggers as friends, especially the ones who I've been following long enough to feel like I actually know them a tiny bit. Also because it got really sad really fast to always say "Oh this is just like this story I read on the blog of this one lady who sews..." *subside into embarrassed mumbling*
