Happy New Year (quick post from phone)

Happy New Year!
So I made some new years resolutions this year (pretty much for the first time). I went all out and made too many, but I'm okay with that. I want to improve I'm not worried about being perfect (because that is never going to happen).
I made two major resolutions: a healthier me and a healthier family.
That has a lot in it though.
For me:
I am going to strive to eat healthier, exercise more, stay safer by not using my mobile phone while driving, feel better about myself (makeup and hair done, other pampering stuff), & take more time to myself
sewing/knitting/etc. (At least one night a week).
For my family:
I'm going to make healthier food, Stick with a better discipline plan for the kiddies (with more rewards and family time) I'm going to try to keep a cleaner house (nothing says love like a clean toilet to puke in - ad libbed from the FlyLady.net), have a family night, and I'm going to give my hubby a night to himself for his hobbies to make him feel better too.
So that is it. Tons of stuff, but the idea is to make life better whenever and wherever I can.
What that means for you is hopefully I will have lots of projects to share this year. Well that is the idea anyway.

  1. oh, amen to that! I'm doing exactly the same. It's not easy taking care of yourself when you have a house and family to care for but one coat of nail polish or quick at home facial really makes a girl feel ready to conquer anything! x

  2. Love the idea of setting aside dedicated sewing time. I may have to do the same thing if I want to get my projects done!

    Cheers!

  3. @brittany
I agree that it is very difficult to find time for taking care of myself amongst all of the other things that I need to do, but I have reasoned that it is like putting on the airmask in an airplane, you can't do it for someone else, if you haven't taken care of yourself first. By neglecting yourself you are not helping out anyone as much as you could if you had taken care of yourself.

@Paige I realize that if I don't set aside some time to myself, scheduled that my family knows about, that it tends to get pushed back further and futher down the todo list (my own fault). I am just trying to give everyone the time they need to refuel and feel good, mine just happens to be creating. :)

  4. Good luck with your plans! You've got a lot going for you, and I imagine that if you even take small steps towards these goals you will find more happiness.
